Testimonials

Ed Trained me for over 7 years and he helped me progress and reach my potential of playing International Rugby. His training is always specific to my position and perfectly periodised for my competitions from 6 Nations to World Cups. He’s also helped me recover from a number of injuries and helped prevent further injuries! Without his dedication, enthusiasm and interesting taste in workout music I wouldn’t have achieved as much in my Rugby Career.

Hannah Gallagher, England Rugby International

Ed was my first strength and conditioning coach back when I was representing the Great British Bobsleigh Team. He helped me grow as athlete and not long after training with him was I making improvements in all my performances. He always knew what was right for my body and communicated with me when it came down to my training therefore I could put 100% trust in him. I couldn’t have asked for a better coach and mentor with Ed, he gives me constant motivation and belief in myself and I always leave a training session feeling I am one step closer to my goal.

Frances Slater, GB Bobsleigh brakeman and Sprinter

Ed is a highly enthused and motivated trainer not only while training me, but himself included.
He helped meticulously with my conditioning through competition, training and injury. While always finding new ways to keep training interesting and varied. His pursuit of excellence for me helped immensely in setting a world class standard to prepare me best while competing at the top level.

Adrian Waller, World no.19 professional squash player
For the time I have known Ed, his commitment to improving base standards and work ethic within the England Netball squad has been outstanding. In his pursuit for excellence, Ed challenges our squad with new and thought-provoking ideas that translate to results in the gym and on the Netball court. His own personal standards are constantly geared towards high performance and positivity, making him a great leader in our elite environment.
Joanne Harten, 81 caps for England Netball
Edward is a brilliant Conditioning Coach. His attention to detail is what makes him so good. He goes above and beyond to help his athletes. His sessions are tailored to the athletes functional needs which is what made the sessions so productive and beneficial. He has a wealth of knowledge and expertise. There is nothing Edward does not know about Strength and Conditioning.
What I liked most about working with Edward was his commitment to my development. He would challenge and push me to be the best that I could be. Being average was not an option and we would work together to set high standards to work to for each session.
Maggie Alphonsi, England Rugby World Cup Gold Medallist

Edward Baker is credit to the Strength & Conditioning community, how many coaches could not only inspire their athletes athletically but also on a professional level.
I have been working with Ed for over 4 years and can safely say I would not be the athlete I am today with his outrageous belief in my abilities as well as the visible passion he carries for his role. My belief is that you should surround yourself with those who bring the best out of you, Edward definitely fits that description.

Steven Edwards, 100 + 200m sprinter

I started working with Edward in 2013 and worked with him all the way up to the Rio 2016 Paralympics. The first thing that struck me about Edward was his pro-active approach to learning the sport of wheelchair rugby. He learnt it quickly and in detail so that he could start making us stronger in the ways that would benefit us most on the court. He didn’t stop there, he pushed us and picked our brains on how to improve our technical ability whilst improving our power and strength at the same time. He helped me personally throughout injuries, for example when I had broken digits he found ways to keep me lifting while ensuring my injury was under no stress. He also coordinated and trained the whole of the GB wheelchair rugby squad and made us, in my opinion, the strongest and fittest wheelchair rugby team. Beyond all of this he made training fun and I and the team massively enjoyed working with him.
